Hello and welcome to our Jamieson family blog page! We have set up this site to allow us to record and share with friends and family our exploits as we (at long last) begin renovating the derelict water mill at Little Ennochie into what will hopefully be a fab and funky family house!! This has only taken us 3 1/2 years to get this far (and two bambinos!) .... so here's hoping this blog doesn't run for another 3 1/2 years !

As a bit of an intro, the mill is located on the outskirts of the village of Finzean, near Banchory in Aberdeenshire. The building sits on the banks of the river Feugh with great views of open fields and the hills, including Clachnaben. We have been slogging through Aberdeenshire planning and building warrants for what feels like forever, but we now have everything in place and the ball is rolling!

I will endevour to update this blog weekly with updates and photos so will see how that goes! Please keep watching and here's hoping this thing doesn't bankrupt us!

Week 47 - Utility/Office and Fireplace taking shape!

Hi folks,

It was another lovely winter's day at Little Ennochie today with the sun streaming in ... it was a positively balmy 4 degC!  This week has seen some really good progress in the utility block off to the east of the site.  Inside this smaller building we now have a utility room, plant room, office and store room.  The cloakroom is still boarded up from outside, but that obviously has walls up too now.  We're really happy with the size of the space and also the amount of light that comes in ... a perfect south facing aspect.  As mentioned in last week's blog, we have decided to build a small extension to this building to hold the wood pellet bulk hopper.  As such, you will see from the photos below that we now have the hoses installed running along the roof of the store and down into the plant room where the boiler will be.  Should be a neat and tidy solution in the end!

Inside the main extension, the fireplace has grown a bit since last week!  Almost full height now.  It is looking really great and we can't wait to see what it looks like once it is lime-pointed and has the stove insert added.  No sign of roof glass again this week, hopefully next week will be the week!!
