Hello and welcome to our Jamieson family blog page! We have set up this site to allow us to record and share with friends and family our exploits as we (at long last) begin renovating the derelict water mill at Little Ennochie into what will hopefully be a fab and funky family house!! This has only taken us 3 1/2 years to get this far (and two bambinos!) .... so here's hoping this blog doesn't run for another 3 1/2 years !

As a bit of an intro, the mill is located on the outskirts of the village of Finzean, near Banchory in Aberdeenshire. The building sits on the banks of the river Feugh with great views of open fields and the hills, including Clachnaben. We have been slogging through Aberdeenshire planning and building warrants for what feels like forever, but we now have everything in place and the ball is rolling!

I will endevour to update this blog weekly with updates and photos so will see how that goes! Please keep watching and here's hoping this thing doesn't bankrupt us!

Week 48 - Cladding, metal roofs and snow fall!

Hi again,

This week has seen a few new areas starting to progress.  Outside a start was made to fitting the metal profile sheeting on the main extension roof.  No photos of this I'm afraid as the weather was so cold and snowy when we visited the site I didn't want to freeze to death getting one!  The larch cladding was also started on the utility extension this week.  The first layer is almost on this building and it looks brilliant.  We're not planning on treating the cladding, the plan is to leave it to weather naturally to a silvery grey ... will take a few years for that to happen!

Inside the only major thing to note was the exposing of two old openings inside the Mill.  We opened up the plasterboard to expose an old opening in one of the upstairs bedroom and another inside the guest bedroom.  We are leaving the stone exposed here and replacing the old wooden lintels with new Douglas Fir ones.  Nice little features.

Glass is due to arrive next week for the roof lights ... watch this space.  Also hope to finalise the design for the glazed hall next week.  Getting there ... slowly but surely!

    There are some simple and apparent roof problems like small leaks that can be solved by homeowners without the assistance of a roofing contractor. But in complex roof problems that require roof replacement or installation, the services of a roofing contractor is necessary. These things require expertise and skills. You can be better assured of the outcome of the roof installation or repair if it is done by an expert.

    Thanks so much...I really appreciate your work..In todays modern construction methods, every constructors prefer to use metal roof..Because it reduce your half of the problems releted to leakage and all sort of that..Want to learn more, relevent to this visit Metal roof cladding
